A Guide to Farming

1. Setting Up Your Farm Field

Before you can plant, you need to prepare your land.

  1. Place the Farm Field: Choose a suitable outdoor location and place your farm field. In Anarchy societies, you can farm anywhere, as long as your farms are close to the container that has the seeds in it. For non-Anarchy societies, you need to own an empty plot, which will allow you to farm on that plot.
  2. Confirm Placement: Once you confirm, your Seedlings will automatically travel to the plot and begin plowing the soil.
  3. Monitor Progress: Plowing takes time. You can check the remaining time by hovering your mouse over the field.

2. Acquiring and Planting Seeds

How to Get Seeds

  • The Kernel: New societies will start with a small number of seeds. Existing societies will need to use the shop and crafting to acquire seeds.
  • The Shop: You can browse and purchase new seeds from the shop. (Note: The shop has a limited daily stock).
  • Crafting (Grow Box): Some seeds can be crafted.
    • Example 1: Craft corn seeds directly in the Grow Box.
    • Example 2: Create a task in the Grow Box Management Hub to craft pumpkin seeds.

Planting Your Seeds

  1. Wait for your Seedlings to finish plowing the farm field.
  2. Select the seeds you wish to plant and assign them to the plowed plots.
  3. Your Seedlings will automatically retrieve the seeds and plant them in the designated fields.

3. Tending Your Crops (Watering & Growing)

Your crops need water to grow.

  1. Find a Water Source: Locate a water deposit.
  2. Build a Water Pump: Place a water pump near the deposit. Your Seedlings will build it and begin extracting murky water.
  3. Watering: Your crops require murky water to grow. Your Seedlings will automatically water the fields as long as you have a supply of murky water (either from your Kernel's starting supply or from your pump).
  4. Growing: Once planted and watered, your field is self-sustaining. You can monitor the crops as they advance through their different growth stages.

4. Harvesting and Storage

  1. Harvest: When the crops are fully grown, click on them to harvest.
  2. Storage: Your Seedlings will automatically pick up the harvested crops (which appear in crates) and carry them to a nearby container.
  3. Access: You can access your harvested produce directly from the container.

5. Using Your Harvest (New Recipes)

Your harvested crops can be used to create new food items. Here are a few examples:

  • Popcorn: A quick and tasty snack.
  • Salad: A fresh Quito recipe.
  • Quito Pumpkin Paste: A new alternative to algae paste.

6. Managing Your Farm

Farming involves long-term planning for seeds and space.

Managing Seed Scarcity

Seeds are a limited resource. Your starting supply is small, and the shop's stock is limited and refreshes daily. After you harvest a crop, the field will be empty and require new seeds.

To maintain a healthy supply, you should:

  • Produce Seeds: Invest in Grow Box production to create a steady supply of new seeds.
  • Buy Seeds: Check the shop daily for its restocked supply.
  • Trade: Trade with other players to get the seeds you need.

Clearing or Removing Farm Fields

You have two options for managing your plots:

1. How to Clear a Field (To Replant)

Use this option if you want to plant a different crop in a field that is already in use.

  1. Select the field and choose the "Clear" option.
  2. Warning: This action will destroy all current plants and seeds in that plot. They will be permanently lost.
  3. Once you confirm, your Seedlings will clear the plot, leaving it empty and ready for new seeds.

2. How to Remove a Field (Completely)

Use this option to permanently remove the entire field plot.

  1. This option is only available for fields that are already empty (i.e., freshly plowed or previously cleared).
  2. Select the empty field and choose the "Remove" option.
  3. Your Seedlings will remove the plot entirely, returning the land to its natural
