Access Rights
Ownership vs Access
In Avesta, owning something means your Seedling can edit or transfer ownership of it, like a building or plot you placed; others can't change it. For movable items (furniture, food, tools) it's less about ownership and more about access: if your Seedling has access to a shower or a storage container, they can freely take things from it, even if they don't "own" them. This matters early on. A hungry Seedling that can access food will take it! If you don't want your things consumed by others, store them in an inventory with no public access.
Roles and Permissions
Permissions control what actions a Seedling or organization can perform, and they are always granted through roles. Permission categories include: Location (entry, security, residents, services, construction, listings), Object (storage, machines, delivery routing, moving, destroying), Society (voting, owning/renting property, territory, departments), Organization (creating/assigning roles, job postings), Wallet (spending organization funds), Plot (boundaries, roads, installations), Business (contracts, ownership transfer), and Group (invitations, disbanding). Some permissions additionally require ownership: e.g., you can only sell or transfer a building if the organization you act through actually owns it. Check what a role grants in the Societies Panel or the organization's management UI.
Room Security
In Business Branches used as service locations, you can set rooms as private to keep guests out: expand the rooms panel from the Inspector panel by clicking a room. You cannot set a room private if it's the only room of an opened service business, or if it's the only entrance to the building.
Related: a greyed out "Go here" usually means your Seedling lacks access to that location; public service locations are available to all Seedlings; and anyone with access to a building also has access to its inventories.
