Crafting & Placing Objects
Crafting items is a key way to progress. Seedlings can craft using Direct Control, but they must have access to a compatible crafting machine (like a Crafting Table) and the necessary materials. This section covers crafting individual objects; for constructing whole buildings.
The Crafting Process
Prepare: use the Catalog to determine what you can craft. It shows the materials, machines, and skills needed. Some items also require a Schematic, an extra set of crafting instructions a Seedling must learn (see their Skills tab in Focus Mode).
Create a Production Task: with materials in hand, right-click a placed crafting machine and select "Production" to create a task for the desired product. For a quick one-off, pick "Quick Produce" instead. It creates the task and immediately sends your selected Seedling to do it. Rule of thumb: Quick Produce for something fast; machine tasks plus a "Run Machine" Scheduler priority for automatic production. A grayed-out option labeled "Not Learned Yet" means your Seedling is missing the Schematic.
Send a Seedling to the task: every action on Avesta is completed by a Seedling. Assign yours to the task, otherwise a nearby Seedling may pick it up instead.
Production limits: when creating a task you can set stop conditions: "Do X times" or "Do until X are in storage". If you see "production limit reached", the condition has been met; click the machine and modify the task (raise the limit, remove it, or set "Do forever"). And don't stress about failures, a failed craft returns all its input materials, and even a critical failure returns half.
Placement Mode
Placement Mode positions objects (furniture, machines) on your property, moving and rotating items from storage or existing locations. Enter it from: an inventory container (right-click the container, click the placeable item), the Management Hub (Properties/Business Panel > Inventory tab > select the item), or a placed object (right-click > "Move"). Selecting a placeable object in your Seedling's Inventory also enters Placement Mode.
Move the item and rotate with Ctrl + Q/E; hold Ctrl to toggle snapping. With snapping off, objects rotate freely at any angle, and you can even place objects on top of other objects.
You can only place within the bounds of your building or plot; some items (wall paintings) are restricted to surfaces like walls.
After placing, the object appears as a blue holograph: a Seedling must pick up, move, and assemble it. A nearby Seedling will take the task automatically, or click the holograph to direct yours.
Placed objects must be assembled before use: Direct Control > "Assemble Object". Placing an object straight from your Seedling's inventory starts the assembly automatically.
Furnish Mode
Furnish Mode is for decorating whole rooms in one session: placing, moving, and rotating furniture and machines. Enter it with the "Furnish" button in a building's context-menu header. Items are organized by category (tables, chairs, beds, lamps, machines) rather than by container. Rotate in small steps with Ctrl + Scroll or Ctrl + Q/E, quarter turns with Ctrl + Shift + Q/E, switch floors with Shift + Scroll. Placement is forgiving in tight spots, but an object's activity spots can be blocked by how you place it. A chair pushed with its front against a wall leaves no room to sit, so Seedlings won't use it.
